Climb a classic route in the front ranges of the incredible Canadian Rockies with an experienced ACMG guide.   No lead climbing experience required, but some indoor climbing or outdoor top roping experience is recommended.   A route will be picked to match your climbing ability and previous outdoor climbing experience, or request a specific route when you book.

This two day course covers the fundamental skills for multi pitch sport climbing and includes a full day multi pitch climb.  We will equip you with the advanced skills and unwavering confidence to tackle multi pitch routes safely and efficiently, unlocking a world of stunning exposure and unparalleled accomplishment.  Previous lead climbing experience indoors or outside is required.

Day 1 : Learn and practice the fundamental multi pitch skills and knowledge at ground level, then dial-in and fine tune your knowledge up on the wall. Complete a mini multi pitch climb and rappel back to the ground with your guide there to help and coach.

  • Level up your foundational knowledge: demystify the essential materials and equipment used for multi pitch climbing and learn how to critically assess this gear for safety. Master a variety of knots and hitches, building a solid foundation for anchor building and learning self-rescue skills in the future. 

  • Build Bombproof Multi Pitch Anchors: Construct safe, redundant and adaptable anchor systems for the diverse alpine environment 

  • Master Advanced Belay Techniques: Learn efficient and secure methods for belaying for a multi pitch lead climber, as well as how to belay from above

  • Rappel with Confidence: descend safely with simple techniques for safe and controlled rappelling.  

Day 2: Put your new knowledge and skills to the test on one of the Bow Valley’s classic multi-pitch climbs! Under the guidance of our passionate and experienced guides, lead climb, set up your technical systems, and practice the skills to make your systems smooth and efficient.  

  • Navigate Efficient Transitions: develop impeccable rope handling skills and learn the techniques for smooth and organized transitions between pitches, maximizing your climbing time and minimizing your exposure

  • Embrace Alpine Awareness : Gain crucial knowledge of mountain hazards, weather considerations, route finding, and emergency procedures specific to multi pitch climbing in the Rockies. 

  • Forge Unbreakable teamwork: Develop clear communication strategies and build a strong partnership essential for safe and successful multi pitch ascents.

Booking Confirmation and Itinerary

After registering for a course or completing a custom booking request you will receive an email confirmation and an itinerary for the course.  A pre-trip emailed will be sent 2-3 days prior to the course booking date to confirm location, meeting place and time, and any weather or conditions considerations.

Transportation

Guests are responsible for their own transportation to and from the trip location.

Weather and Cancellation Policy

All programs will run as scheduled unless weather conditions are deemed to be a risk to the group. Participants are responsible for packing appropriate clothing for all possible weather conditions and for extended time outdoors. In the case of rescheduling, your requested ‘next best’ date will be used.
